The seeds of Breakthrough Chronic Care were planted when our co-founder was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

When our co-founder was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer his world changed dramatically. In seeking treatment, he met many people who had long-term chronic illnesses and were suffering from stress and systematic poor medical care. Bob discovered the system was overwhelmed with the enormous number of people with chronic disease. Over half of American adults have one or more chronic health conditions. One in four adults has two or more.

Bob learned that most people with a chronic condition were regularly treated by their primary care doctor on an out-patient basis. Just getting an appointment could take weeks. Seeing a specialist took even longer. As Bob investigated further he found that the average wait time in the U.S. was 19.5 days. Many medical practices control their saturated schedules by pushing chronic care appointments further out and then double-booking them with patients requiring immediate attention.

The reality is that physicians have an average of 2,300 patients (in an insurance-based practice setting), so there are not enough hours in a day to care for patients requiring a significant amount of medical attention. The economic and administrative pressures, as well as an increase in demand for patient care, have stretched the primary care workforce too thin for chronic care patients. And patients suffer, trapped in a system that no longer works well for them.

“Under the traditional healthcare model, doctors are responsible for thousands of patients and often see 24 to 36 people in a single day. That’s because most doctors aren’t paid a salary but are instead paid by insurance companies per patient seen or service provided.”

      – Wayne Lipton, Concierge Choice Physicians

Breakthrough Chronic Care (BCC) was conceived to serve the medical needs of every person with a chronic condition. It is the first company in America to address this serious situation. Co-founded by Bob and other chronic care patients and caregivers, BCC’s approach is simple: to connect chronic care patients with doctors whose practice caters to chronic care patients. To do so requires creating a new medical system. We began by seeking physicians who wanted a closer and more fulfilling physician-patient relationship. We call them Concierge Chronic Care Doctors, and you can be sure they are committed physicians. We also use a payment system where we pay them to see patients, which eliminates their need to file lengthy insurance claims.

Then, we brought together world-class physicians, specialists in diabetes, heart disease, and all chronic illnesses, to create our Scientific Advisory Board. They will ensure the latest medical research is available to our patients and Concierge Chronic care Doctors.

After extensive research, we developed 7 Proactive Benefits that our Concierge Chronic Care Doctors use to reduce care fragmentation, improve emotional support, and empower patients with ongoing education about their health.

Our Home 'Advocates' provide invaluable on-going information to patients. They promote BCC because they know it will have a positive impact on a patient's health, lifestyle, and can even significantly reduce out-of-pocket medical costs. After all, our Home Advocates are all chronic care patients themselves, and they all have their own Concierge Chronic Care Doctor too. When asked, they honestly share their personal testimonial with a fellow patient who has a common condition. The Home Advocate is not a medical professional and is not there to provide medical advice. They share how:

  • Their personal experience relates to and helps the patient.

  • Their close doctor relationship has improved their life.

  • They can regularly get a doctor appointment and have same day/next day access.

  • Their caring doctor spends 30 minutes or more with them on each appointment.

  • Their doctor has a comprehensive view of their condition and is sincerely interested in their total health.

  • They love their MEGA MEALS and how well the meals make them feel.

Creation of The Cancer Terminator Foundation.

Bob's stage 4 cancer was treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center by Dr. Steven Frank. One day Dr. Frank told Bob about a revolutionary cancer cure. This new treatment is the next generation of Proton Therapy, called Heavy-Ion Therapy. Dr. Frank developed the therapy with leading scientists from the Mayo Clinic and Memorial Sloan Kettering, two of the most respected hospitals worldwide. Treatments in Japan and Europe are achieving outstanding cure rates of several previously incurable cancers.

Heavy-Ion Therapy could eliminate much of the pain and stress patients experience from current treatments. For example, Bob’s treatment could have been four 30-minute sessions over two weeks instead of 35 grueling one-hour sessions over four months.

Unfortunately, Heavy-Ion Therapy is not available in America yet. So, Bob, Dr. Frank, and the world’s 40 leading scientists in Heavy-Ion Therapy came together to create the Cancer Terminator Foundation. The Foundation's sole purpose is to build seven Heavy-Ion Therapy centers in America over the next five years. Bob contacted thought leaders from America’s top companies across multiple industries, as well as leading religious or Concierge Chronic Care Doctor ties. Virtually everyone would like to get involved in this breakthrough cancer achievement. BCC will donate a portion of revenue is donated to the Cancer Terminator Foundation. We invite you to join us in supporting this great cause.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Fact #1

An individual with a chronic disease has over 4 times the healthcare costs of an average person and spends $14,000 a year or more on out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Fact #2

Over 75% of the $3.5 trillion healthcare costs in America are attributable to major chronic illnesses. Poor disease management is responsible for a significant percentage of those dollars.
